Trip to the Supreme Convention

Posted by Steven Richardson on August 19, 2007

Susan and I finally did what we have been meaning to do for years: attend the Supreme Convention of the Knights of Columbus.  This year it was held in Nashville, Tennessee, at the Gaylord Opryland hotel, a 2,881 room facility that is absolutely amazing!  We flew down on Saturday, August 4, and stayed through Friday, August 10.  The convention itself ran from Tuesday the 7th through Thursday the 9th with many different activities before and during the official session.  We attended the Grand Ole Opry, relaxed with Mojitos at a revolving bar, sipped lattes in the morning (I had a concoction called a Jittery Monkey: espresso, chocolate, banana syrup, and whipped cream), attended an opening Mass concelebrated with dozens of bishops, archbishops, and cardinals, and principally celebrated (in Italian and Latin) by the Vatican Secretary of State (!), and spent some quality time with each other and our friends.  I have posted some pictures from the trip and will be uploading more in the next few days.  It was a great time!
